SHE NC is hosting a panel of fabulous speakers on April 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the Wake Tech's Western Wake Campus in Cary NC.

⚖️ Balance is something many of use strive for and believe we should "find," but many women struggle with conflicting demands in their lives due to their diverse roles and responsibilities.

Join us to explore this topic and network with other women in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.

Dr. Kara McElligott Park is a board certified OB/GYN and Certified Menopause Practitioner. She is a former Duke, UNC Health and Veterans Affairs Faculty.

In 2022, Kara the founded PAUSE for Women (pauseforwomen.co), a virtual menopause clinic based in North Carolina. Kara specializes in providing guidance and care during the menopausal transition.

From learning what to expect to managing symptoms and coordinating care with other providers, Kara takes an individualized, comprehensive approach to women’s care.

Kara lives in Durham, NC with her husband and two children. In her free time she enjoys growing flowers, crafting and travel.

Know Your Values (Virtual Workshop)

Do you know your values? Does it matter?

When did you last assess your values?

Knowing your values can help with important personal and professional decision making.

Discover what is really important to you!

Registration includes the Personal Values Assessment, a guide to understanding your values, and tailored guidance from Dr. Paula Berardinelli, a certified Barrett Values Center facilitator and coach.

Join us next Thursday evening, June 22 at 7:00 pm for a workshop on understanding your values. In this workshop, you will:

  • Learn about the different types of values

  • Discover your own personal values

  • Explore how your values impact your life

  • Develop strategies for living in alignment with your values

During the event, Dr. Paula Berardinelli will help you understand your report and how to apply it to your work and personal life.

Once your registration is processed, you will receive a unique invite to the event and a Zoom link.

Who you are, what you hold dear, what upsets you, and what underlies your decisions, are all connected to your personal values. Your values reflect your beliefs and what is important to you. They are a shorthand way of describing your motivations. Your beliefs ground what you value – both drive your decision-making.

The Personal Values Assessment is a simple survey that takes just a few minutes of your time and provides a wealth of information about why you do what you do.

REGISTER for this event and you will receive a code to take the Personal Values assessment and get your detailed report (a value of $19.95). During the event, Dr. Paula Berardinelli, a certified values coach, will help you understand your report and how to apply it to your work and personal life (a value of $150).

This 90-minute class will be led by Sarah Woods of Chill Movement gym in Chapel Hill, NC.

Sarah has been training people of all kinds, in both therapeutic and athletic capacities, for over 20 years. Her career has given her the opportunity to train with a variety of different modalities. Sarah is a powerhouse of movement tricks and information.

Sarah is trained and competes in jiu jitsu and uses her vast experience to train others in self-defense. Training will include situational awareness (regarding exits, barriers, and positions), de-escalating confrontations, wrist grip, and addressing pushes or pulling clothing, and falling/getting up safely with an attacker in-range.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month, and we will be hosting Sharice Potts, MPA from InterAct of Wake County to educate us about sexual assault, how to identify it, and how to help yourself or others if you believe you/they have been assaulted.

Sharice Potts is the Community Awareness Coordinator at InterAct. She facilitates domestic and sexual violence presentations in the community as well as coordinate events for staff and volunteers. She is deeply passionate about InterAct’s work and she looks forward to broadening its outreach and awareness efforts.

Sharice received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a Masters’ of Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Though a New Yorker at heart, she has truly enjoyed living in North Carolina the past ten years. She is wife, and mother of three. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching action or romance movies.

Feb 14 - Mar 8 2023, SHE NC is supporting InterAct of Wake County’s current Awareness Campaign, “ARE YOU SAFE?” InterAct needs to distribute Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Posters widely throughout Wake County to help victims find help.

Want to help? Sign up using our Google form, “InterAct Poster Project Volunteer Sign-up.” Our InterAct Project Coordinator, Shonthini McNeill, will contact volunteers to coordinate access to posters and record locations you distribute them.

We will culminate this event on March 8, 2023, International Women's Day, by supporting InterAct’s urgent needs via Amazon.

Allies are a force for amplifying LGBTQ+ voices and provide valuable support to the community, but how do you become a strong gender ally? Allyship doesn’t have to be scary or difficult to understand. Join us to learn about the unique struggles of women in the LGBTQ+ community and how you can step into allyship with confidence. “Until we are all free, we are none of us free." -Emma Lazarus

In this dynamic, interactive workshop, you will learn about:

  1. How transphobia hurts ALL women

  2. Diversity of identities within LGBTIQ communities (also called “intersectionality”)

  3. The risks of violence experienced by trans women daily

  4. Affirming responses to someone coming out or sharing their pronouns

  5. Appropriate use of gender pronouns and what to do/say when you misgender someone

NOTE: This session will NOT be recorded in an effort to increase psychological safety of the participants and encourage more open dialogue.
